Graduation of Second Cohort from EGA Technical Leadership Program conducted by R&D Carbon

Emirates Global Aluminium (EGAโ€‹) has grown into the world’s largest ‘premium aluminium’ producer. Developing strong UAE national technical capabilities is central for maximising EGA’s growth and the UAE’s broader industrial sector.

In line with this vision, EGA has launched the Technical Leadership Program in 2024, a bespoke initiative created in partnership with R&D Carbon, having a multi-level collaboration with EGA for over 30 years. This program stands for the visionary leadership of Amer Almarzooqi and trust on future leaders by Abdulla Kalban, Abdulnasser Bin Kalban, Sergey Akhmetov and Iman Al Qasim.

The program is specifically designed to enhance technical leadership within EGAโ€™s management. Participants benefit from the knowledge and expertise of industry specialists from R&D Carbon, Dr. Markus Meier, Peter Sulger, Francesco C. Baccalร  and Jรฉrรดme Chollet who collectively bring more than 70 years of experience. EGA and R&D Carbon have presented a joint paper at the 2026 TMS Conference in San Diego about the program and the thesis topics of the first cohort whose members graduated in 2025.

Following a rigorous selection process, another five talented young leaders from EGA, Ahmed Al Dhaheri, Almas Salmin, Salman Al Suwaidi, Mohammed Al Ghawi and Mohammad Alshaibani, were chosen to participate in the second cohort. Over an intensive 35-week program, the participants mentored by Ahmed Almarzooqi, have acquired advanced skills, culminating in the thesis presentations at their graduation ceremony at the Delta Park Resort in Thun-Gwatt, Switzerland on 24 June 2026.

Iman Al Qasim and Amer Almarzooqi attended the graduation organized by R&D Carbon, along with distinguished guests from the industry. The UAE Ambassador in Switzerland, H.E. Dr. Hissa Al Otaiba gave a speech and welcomed the delegation at the Embassy in Bern.

Dear graduates, congratulations! R&D Carbon is looking forward to following your career.
